Our daughter Nicole was diagnosed June 1999 with moderate to severe hearing loss. She has been wearing Oticon 220 (I think) hearing aids since October 1999. She had an unaided hearing test yesterday which was her worst yet 70-110 db, but this was the first time they used headphones too. I really don’t feel like she’s benefiting much from her current hearing aids and I’ve been reading a lot about the ImpaCT aids. I don’t think she would qualify for a CI. Does anybody have any suggestions or input? By the way, she started in a hearing impaired preschool today. She has a twin sister and we would really like them to go to school together.

Nassau, Bahamas  9/2000
Hydie is a two year old cochlea implant patient. She has had the implant for eleven months now and says about ten to fifteen words. She responds well to commands and shows steady progress. She also says a few phrases such as “Don’t do that” and “Leave me now”. She might be the youngest Bahamain to have an implant.
