The Auditory-Verbal Philosophy

LISTEN’s program is based on the Auditory-Verbal philosophy which differs substantially from traditional deaf education.  Here’s how it works.

LISTENing and subsequent speech is integrated into the total development of a young child with hearing impairment regardless of the severity of the loss.
The child is prepared for full participation and independence within his hearing community.

This approach may be different than others you may have read or heard about because children are taught to listen as a way of life.  The Auditory-Verbal method gives the child opportunities and choices.
